A Chiropodist is a regulated (College of Chiropodists of Ontario) foot-health professional authorized to assess, diagnose, treat, and prevent a wide range of foot and lower-limb conditions. They manage nail and skin concerns, chronic foot issues, wound care (including people with diabetes and patients with impaired circulation/slow healing or immunocompromised), and structural or biomechanical problems, using therapeutic, palliative, orthotic, and surgical methods when appropriate.

This type of appointment is for returning patients of Gentle Foot Care with an existing foot management plan of care regimen. This visit provides ongoing maintenance for issues such as thick nails, corns, calluses, or hard skin. This type of appointment is for returning patients of Gentle Foot Care with an existing foot management plan of care regimen. This visit provides ongoing maintenance for issues such as thick nails, corns, calluses, or hard skin. Each appointment includes a brief assessment, treatment as indicated, and an update to your management plan to help maintain comfort and mobility. It may include reassessment of your current devices, such as footwear, orthotics, orthodigital silicone devices (such as toe realigners or dividers), etc.

Anamelva earned her B.Sc. from the University of Toronto in 1991 with a specialist degree in Human Physiology and a major in Biochemistry.

Graduated from the Chiropody Program at The Michener Institute in 1996, obtaining the Omar Shearer Award for excellence in Research and specializing in the field of Biomechanics. She has worked for the Toronto General Hospital,The Doctors Hospital until its amalgamation and The William Osler Health Centre serving the Georgetown site.

Anamelva had been running the Chiropody Clinic at the Toronto Western Hospital for over twelve years, where she has gained a vast experience treating patients of all ages as part of multidisciplinary teams serving family medicine, seniors wellness, artist health, diabetes, wound and fall prevention clinics. She is also currently involved in research, lecturing and clinical instruction.

Anamelva is a member of the Ontario Society of Chiropodists, the Canadian Federation of Foot Specialists and the Canadian Diabetes Association.

She has continuously served at the College of Chiropodists of Ontario in various roles over the years as an exemplary member of her profession, appointed as a practice assessor for the quality assurance committee of her College and revision of the college’s standards of practice and the board examination.

She has been a marker for the International Inter-professional Wound Care Course offered at U of T and a member of the CIDA funded Guyana Diabetic foot project, volunteering her time to help decrease the number of diabetic foot amputations in Guyana.

Anamelva has been practicing in Port Credit for over 17 years, at her own clinic, and brings to this community many years of experience in the field of chiropody and inter-professional and wound management collaborative care.

She aims to help her clients improve their foot health by providing thorough foot assessments, developing comprehensive treatment plans centered on her clients particular needs and innovative evidence based foot care.

She can communicate in Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. In her leisure time she is a dancer, a painter and a sewist.
